Advisory Forum Update
Are you planning to celebrate our 20th anniversary by attending the 2019 OpenTravel Advisory Forum? The OpenTravel community will gather during the industry event, HITEC, at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Tuesday, June 18. The discussion will focus on the drive toward a seamless journey for the traveler and whether we need standards, or how they need to evolve, to enable this.
The HITEC housing bureau is available for you to make a hotel reservation, and we hope you will consider visiting the HITEC show while in Minneapolis.
We couldn’t hold this meeting without the support of sponsors, and sponsorships are now available. Click here for more information.
Registration will be open soon, keep a look out for and email in the next couple of weeks. When you register, you will also be creating a profile on OpenTravel’s new membership management system, which we will be using for workgroups, conference registration, membership renewals, networking, and other member materials.
Sponsorships range from $1,500 - $7,500 and include at least one conference pass. The standard registration fee is $495 for members and $645 for nonmembers.
Open Payments Alliance (OPA) Workgroup Launched
As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, HTNG, HEDNA, and OpenTravel are collaborating on a workgroup to develop a standard for an alternate method of handling B2B payments to hotels and, in, the future, possibly other travel verticals. Rachel Neal of Onyx CenterSource and Xavier Ginesta of the Voxel Group are the interim co-chairs, and pre-charter calls are currently being scheduled. If you are interested in participating, please register here. The workgroup is open to participation from any member of HTNG, HEDNA, or OpenTravel. Nonmembers are also welcome to participate in the pre-charter phase; once the workgroup is officially chartered, membership with one of the three organizations is required. We anticipate kicking off this workgroup with a face-to-face meeting at the HEDNA conference in Madrid, May 20-22 - a great excuse to go to Madrid!
Car Rental 2.0 Project Team Announced
The 2.0 Object Model development will continue with car rental. The goal of the project team is to create the messaging needed to search for car rental facilities, check for car rental availability and reserve a car rental product. This functionality will be incorporated into the 2.0 Object Model, allowing the car rental product to be a standalone reservation or part of a reservation folio made up of multiple cross-vertical products such as a hotel and golf tee time reservation. If you are interested to participate, please email Sandy Angel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Active Project Team Update
As part of the creation of the 2.0 Resource Consideration document, the 2.0 Model Build Project Team is adding logging capabilities in order to allow for tracking of state. This functionality will be released in conjunction with the 2.0 Hotel Descriptive Content Project.
The 2.0 Hotel Descriptive Content Project Team is continuing to develop the objects needed to fully describe a hotel property. In doing so, higher level objects are being created to support descriptions across other products so that they can easily be incorporated in the model as needed. This functionality will be released in the next few months.
